Ruins of the castle in a forest, consisting of rooms with kitchen, rooms paved with mosaic, skeletons with sections of sword
In front of intriguing stones suggesting ruins, the owner of the forest launched excavations in 1839. They revealed a set of 18 rooms including a kitchen, bathrooms but also rooms paved with mosaic and other large rooms where about twenty skeletons were found, some holding sword sections. Pieces found on site suggest that the events would have taken place in the third century. Mosaics were transported to the castle of Chastellux.
Close by, another pile of stone guided other excavations in 1904 which led to the castle of Chagnis, on the place called La Ruissotte. Twelve tombs were discovered.
