The Saint-Grégoire chapel, with its old-fashioned panache, in the heart of the Villeneuve-les-Presle forest, is reached by a charming little bridge.
In the heart of the forest of Villeneuve-les-Presle, the pretty Saint-Grégoire chapel is reached by a charming little bridge that breaks the isolation of the place. Dedicated to Pope Grépoire in 1731, it was finally abandoned and then fell victim to a fire in 1938. Overgrown by vegetation, the chapel regained its former glory in the 1970s thanks to the hard work of a group of volunteers who, for 18 months, worked to restore it. Just a few steps away, pilgrims used to go to the spring that was reputed to heal animals.
