PARC DU MOULIN À TAN - SERRES TROPICALES
Park with health course, farm animals and playgrounds near downtown Sens. A green space to discover.
If there is one Senegalese green space to discover absolutely, it is this one! To the south of Sens, a fifteen minute walk from the town centre, the Parc du Moulin à Tan was designed around an old tannery. There you will find something to satisfy all your current desires: a healthy trail for your sports outings, farm animals for educational walks with the children, playgrounds to amuse them and, of course, paths refreshed by the rustle of a stream for bucolic walks. Don't forget the superb municipal and tropical greenhouses that are housed here. They alone are well worth a visit! More than 1,500 orchids, cacti, bromeliads and other carnivorous plants can be found here. The astonishing Victoria Cruziana too, a giant Amazonian water lily whose leaves can reach 3 meters in diameter. Not to be missed either, the impressive Bolée wind turbine, nicknamed the "Eiffel Tower of Sens". 20 metres high (and weighing 10 tons), it was put into service in 1893 near here, in Villevalier where it was used to supply water to the washhouse. It was slated for destruction, but was repatriated to Sens and, since its renovation in 2018, has been enthroned in the middle of the park. You should know that it is one of the 80 Bolée wind turbines still visible in France. Four of them are located in the Yonne: one in the Tonnerrois (Arthonnay), three in the Sénonais (in Vaudeurs, La Postolle, and thus in Sens).
