A Hôtel-Dieu with an interactive museography presenting the collection of works of art and buildings in a highly original way.

Founded in 1293 by Marguerite de Bourgogne, Countess of Tonnerre, Queen of Naples and Jerusalem and sister-in-law of Saint Louis, the Hôtel-Dieu de Tonnerre became a museum a long time ago. Owned by the Centre Hospitalier de Tonnerre, the latter recently entrusted its management to the "Tous au Château" company. The aim? Boost visitor numbers and consequently strengthen the town's cultural and tourist offering. The result is a totally renewed offer in 2023, which will continue to develop in 2024.

The Hôtel-Dieu, the largest (and one of the oldest) medieval hospitals in Europe, can now be discovered through an immersive tour, featuring a game area and discovery trails leading to the Treasure Room, home to some of the finest pieces in the hospital's collections. But beyond that, you'll also be able to discover all the historical gems of Tonnerre through a "Tonnerre escape" and tours of the site and the town that call for sound... and light! And let's not forget the various events, the discovery of the former Tonnerre chocolate factory and the Château d'Uzès, the birthplace of the Chevalier d'Éon. Both sites are scheduled to open to the public in April 2024. As for Le Cellier (the Hôtel-Dieu reception area), it is also a wine cellar offering local vintages and a delicatessen section. There's no doubt that the town of Tonnerre is continuing its impressive renewal!

Vraiment superbe. Accueil chaleureux.
