ÉGLISE SAINT-SYMPHORIEN
A very beautiful church in Treigny, with animal sculptures on the pediment, a slender nave and a pointed vault
Nicknamed "la Puisaye Cathedral", this beautiful church built in the heart of the village of Treigny (which was an important pottery centre in the 15th and 16th centuries) is a magnificent example of Burgundian flamboyant Gothic. Note the animal sculptures on the pediment, as well as the door on the right, still on the facade, which was the door of the Lepers, Treigny welcoming at the time a Leprosarium. Inside, the slender nave and its pointed vault date from the end of the 16th century. A superb monument which is worth the detour.
