FRANCISCAN CHURCH OF LA CORDELLE
The oldest French settlement of the Franciscan order is located at the foot of the Eternal Hill.
At the foot of the eternal hill is the oldest French settlement of the Franciscan order. The Cordeliers occupied the convent from the 13th century until the French Revolution. Although most of the buildings were destroyed, a magnificent Romanesque chapel remains. Not far from there, on the hillside, a huge cross marks the place where Saint Bernard preached in 1146 the second crusade in front of Louis VII, Eleanor of Aquitaine and nearly 100 000 people!
