MUSEUM OF THE WORK VIOLLET-LE-DUC
Beautiful museum with many capitals from the rubble, with drawings and sketches by Viollet-le-Duc.
Thanks to the work of a talented architect, Eugène Viollet-le-Duc, the Basilica of Sainte-Marie-Madeleine has been restored to its former splendor. In its cloister is now this beautiful Museum of the Work. A very moving place since it allows to admire many capitals coming from the rubble. Drawings and sketches of Viollet-le-Duc, casts of disappeared sculptures, one understands better the extent of the task undertaken in 1840. Not to be missed during your visit to Vézelay.
