MUSÉE-GALERIE CARNOT
Museum-gallery gathering various collections on the history of the city and the artists of Villeneuve-sur-Yonne.
Located next to the Porte de Joigny (the southern medieval gate), the Carnot Museum-Gallery brings together different collections. You will discover the history of the city and the artists who lived in Villeneuve-sur-Yonne. Thus, the astonishing gallery upstairs, overlooking the ditches of the city, gives pride of place to the sculptor Émile Peynot (1850-1932), a native of Villeneuve and winner of the Grand Prix de Rome 1880, as well as painters and draughtsmen who since the beginning of the 20th century have enhanced the city's landscapes: Francis Picabia, in particular.
