Les bois des Ferriers, a place to discover these small mounds of earth in the woods of Montholon.
Do you know the ferriers? These small mounds of earth hidden in the middle of the forest are in fact piles of iron and steel waste from ancient times. Those of Aillant, remarkable, are spread over more than 20 ha, which makes them the second largest ironworks in the Yonne (after those of Tannerre, in Puisaye). They are next to a network of ponds that can be discovered on a 4 km guided tour. Terminals give us the necessary explanations all along the walk, and it is fascinating. A word of advice: bring good walking shoes!
