What is Océanopolis Brest?

The superb Océanopolis aquarium is located in Brittany, in the Finistère region of France. It's a fascinating place to dive into the heart of the oceans. With your family, discover the richness of marine biodiversity in 77 tanks and over 1,000 animal species. From polar to tropical and temperate environments, the aquarium is home to no fewer than 10,000 animals.

Among them, you can admire exceptional marine animals such as the Napoleon fish, blue-spotted stingrays and Aurelie jellyfish. The large aquarium, with an impressive capacity of one million liters of seawater, is home to :

Open all year round, the Océanopolis aquarium's opening hours vary according to the season:

  • 10 a.m.-5 p.m
  • 9 h 30-18
  • 9.30 a.m.-7 p.m.

Please note! The aquarium is closed throughout January!

For prices, expect :

  • Adults: €22.90
  • Young people (14-17 years: €17.50)
  • Children (3-13 years): €14.60.

Good to know: At the end of 2023, Océanopolis will embark on a 2-year project to create new areas. Until the work is completed, the aquarium is offering lower rates, as some areas may be temporarily closed.

Where can I buy tickets for Océanopolis Brest?

You can buy your ticket on site, but this does not guarantee you access to the aquarium. In the event of a large number of visitors, particularly in wet weather, you may be refused access for safety reasons, as capacity is limited. The best thing to do is buy your ticket on the Océanopolis website, to reserve your day and time slot. You can also reserve your ticket at supermarket ticket offices , through your works council or on specialized websites.

How do I get to Océanopolis Brest?

There are several options for getting to the Brest aquarium:

  • By car: from Rennes, take the "Brest-Ports" exit. From Nantes or Quimper, follow "Brest-Océanopolis". From the city center, head for the train station, then the commercial port, before heading for the aquarium.
  • By bike: the Littorale V45, the local cycle route, takes you to Océanopolis.
  • On foot: the GR34 takes hikers to the aquarium for a pleasant walk.
  • By train and bus: from Brest station, take bus no. 3.

Good to know you can also come by boat from the Crozon peninsula.

How long does it take to visit Brest's Océanopolis?

Under normal circumstances, a visit should take around 3 to 4 hours, especially with children. However, when certain parts of the aquarium are closed for renovation, the visit lasts around 2 hours.

Where can I eat at Océanopolis?

You can eat on site, at the Rest'O. Hot dishes, snacks, desserts and drinks are available to eat in or take away. Please note! Out of season, Rest'O is only open on weekends and public holidays, from 10.30am to 5pm. Please note that leaving the aquarium is permanent. So don't forget to bring your own food.
