QUESTEL FORT
A fort surrounded by deep ditches, with a masonry wall and a facade that has been restored to its original appearance.
Located in the Cavale Blanche district, this fort is a vestige of the 18th century. It was Louis XVI who, fearing that the English would land in Brittany, had an inner belt of forts and redoubts built, including this fortified structure dating from 1782. Vauban-style, it is surrounded by deep ditches and features a masonry wall topped by a parapet walk. Renovation work has restored the building's façade to its original appearance. The fortress offers walks through its well-sheltered moats, underground passageways and stairways. Today, the site is part of a series of redeveloped natural spaces that lead to the banks of the Penfeld, via a circuit passing at the foot of the Cavale Blanche hospital. Please note: events are regularly organized on the 6-hectare site.
