QUESTEL FORT
Fort du Questel, an example of the art of French fortification, built to protect Brest. Stroll through the moat
Fort du Questel, built to protect Brest from enemy attack, bears witness to the art of French fortification before the French Revolution. Situated between Fort de Kéranroux and Fort de Penfeld, it kept watch over the Moulin du Buis valleys, where the enemy could hide. Equipped with a wall, deep ditches and underground galleries, it housed a garrison of 200 men and 26 cannons. Today, this historic site offers magnificent walks through the verdant moats and underground galleries, and hosts a variety of events.
