CIRCULAR LOCK OF THE LORRAINS
On the canal lateral à la Loire, at the exit of the village, 3 km in the direction of Cuffy, we discover an astonishing lock, the Lorrains lock, opposite the lock house, which is strictly circular. Built in the middle of the 19th century, it is in perfect condition. Its basin is made of stone, with a diameter of 32 metres. It is located near the Guétin canal bridge and the dam that used to draw water from the Allier to supply the canal. The lock allowed boats to pass from the Allier to the canal. This round lock, in perfect condition, is unique in France today.
