SAN MARTIN CHURCH
Discover the church of Aubigny-sur-Nère, a Gothic jewel rebuilt in the XVIᵉ century, rich in stained glass, sculptures and fascinating artwork
Saint-Martin Church, originally built in the XIIᵉ century by the monks of Saint-Martin de Tours, suffered heavy damage during a fire in 1512. It was rebuilt in the early XVIᵉ century by Robert Stuart in an elegant Gothic style, enriched by superb stained-glass windows and an exceptional altarpiece. Its ornate nave reveals polychrome statues, XVIᵉ century epitaphs, and singular pastel works. The sculptures of the Mise au Tombeau and the Vierge de Pitié touch the heart, making this edifice one of Sologne's hidden treasures.
