ST. STEPHEN'S CHURCH
A discreet, almost thousand-year-old church with a unique bell tower-porch, it is home to sacred treasures and a rich history
Built in the 11th century, the church features a Romanesque porch, testimony to the development of this art form in the region. In the 15th century, the south chapel was dedicated to the Virgin Mary, and in the 16th century, a 15-metre-high bell tower-porch was added, offering protection and access to the gallery via wooden staircases. Restored in the 19th century, the church retains its treasures: reliquaries, modern stained-glass windows, polychrome statues, a baptismal font and a rood screen. Listed as a Monument Historique in 1926, this discreet church with its rich history is well worth a visit.
