Magnificent garden in Bourges based on the principles of the park at Versailles, with a formal garden and a woodland garden
The garden of the Archdiocese offers a magnificent view of the perfect cathedral for your photos. Created in 1730 at the site of the rampart of Philippe Auguste, it is said that it was designed by a student of Le Nôtre, so the style takes over the principles of the park of Versailles (square and aligned beds). The garden consists of two distinct parts: The first extends the old palace of the Archdiocese with flowering plants, curtains, boulingrins… This first half is a beautiful French-style garden, always well maintained as winter. The second part is very woody. His route is in hunting forest star. The music booth, dating back to 1908, is decorated with four bronze monumental vases representing the four seasons. These vases were created by Louis-Léon Cugnot at the end of the th century and are recorded in the additional inventory of Historical Monuments. In the beautiful days, the booth welcomes Sunday and classical music concerts. Under the trees, a playground is reserved for children. A peaceful place in the city centre.
