MARSHLANDS
A 135-hectare marsh offering an annual discovery of local flora and fauna, as well as boat trips.
The picturesque marshes of Bourges cover 135 hectares in a grid of canals, small gardens and greenery, just a stone's throw from the town center. It was the Jesuits who, in the 17th century, transformed part of these marshes into cultivable plots. Today, a patchwork of allotments and fields are cultivated by over 1,500 gardeners and market gardeners. Every year, at the end of August or beginning of September, the Fête des Marais offers a chance to discover the local flora and fauna, as well as boat rides!
