THE GUÉTIN CANAL BRIDGE
Stone and brick canal-bridge, one of the largest canal-bridges in France, located in Cuffy.
We admire this stone and brick bridge-canal, a remarkable and spectacular work, inaugurated in 1838, for the passage of the lateral canal of the Loire above the Allier. With its 16 m width, its 18 arches, its 343 m length, its double lock with a 9.50 m waterfall, it is one of the largest canal bridges in France. It was redesigned in 1880 and in 1890 to match the Freycinet gauge for barges. It is always fascinating to see the passage of the locks by the boats! One of the adventures of river navigation.
