WHOLESALE CASTLE
Located in an area of 28 hectares and ancient dependence of the Bourbons, it was built from xiith century in the xivth century. The conical tower dates from the start of construction, the rest of the medieval castle consists of three bodies arranged quadrilateral around a central courtyard. The area is surrounded by the forests of Apremont, Neuvy and Grossouvre. Its history has been mixed since the xivth century with the family of the Grivel who occupy it for four hundred years. The castle presents a enclosure on its four corners with circular towers. It preserves a rustic ride, built at the end of the thirteenth century, exceptional in the Berry where this type of dressing was rare in the Middle Ages. The courteous tower of this tower keeps the traces of the primitive entrance of the castle, with a lift bridge (xive century) and the chapel that follows the north. In the nineteenth century, it becomes the property of the Marquis d 'Aguado, which, after restoring it, makes it an appointment of magnificent hunches. The Emperor Napoleon III and his wife Eugénie are familiar to Grossouvre. After having changed hands several times in the twentieth century, he has known since 1998 a vast renovation program and plans to open a museum of antique weapons. The chateau of today, Mr. Jacques Cheval, gives a visit and tells the story of the castle. Make an appointment is not forbidden…
