ST. STEPHEN'S GRAVEL CHURCH
12th-century Romanesque church dedicated to the first Christian martyr, a witness to history and a venue for cultural events in Berry.
Classified as a historic monument in 1962, Saint-Étienne du Gravier is a 12th-century Romanesque church with a Latin cross floor plan. Its steeple cock, dated 1590, is said to be the oldest in France, and one of its bells, dated 1565, is the oldest in the canton. Damaged during the Hundred Years' War and burnt down in 1568 by the Huguenots, it has been restored and bears witness to a tumultuous past. The local association organizes concerts and tours in summer.
