THE COLLEGIATE CHURCH OF SAINT-MARTIN
Go there and contact
A somewhat impressive building when you know that it secretly contains the relics of Saint Martin (ubiquitous in this region) during successive invasions of the Normands. If its foundation appears to date from the viiith century, its construction dates from the xiith century on an oratory dating back to the eleventh century. We are in the middle of the classic novel and a beautiful Romanesque door is always visible on the western façade. Until the French Revolution, it was mainly an educational center protected by the ramparts of Philippe Auguste, most of the city being a port along the Loire. Classified as Historic Monument in 1912 for the west gate and crypt, the rest of the building was inscribed at Historic Monuments in 1926. It remains a precious place since the church houses a relic of Saint Martin in a wooden reliquary made by a priest at the beginning of the twentieth century. She has a "charity of Saint Martin" on the tympan of the western portal and a stained glass stained glass stained glass in the choir. The vaulted crypt is decorated with wall paintings of the thirteenth century.
