THE PRESS CENTRE
The motto of the Press Center is: «publicize and highlight a heritage, that of the written press.» The association was founded in 1993. It manages over 300,000 journals from 4,000 different titles. Among other things, the center preserves a copy of the Gazette of Theophraste Renaudot dating back to 1631 and an original of the Aurore of 1898 titling Zola's famous "I accuse"! The Press Center recovers old journals and newspapers prior to 1970 (donor advice!), class all these documents, ready copies for exhibitions. The major project for the coming years will be to create the first interregional research center dedicated to the print press. Several activities are planned: an area of conservation of journals with computerized inventory accessible from the Internet, a workshop to classify and prepare exhibitions, reading and research rooms, and finally an exhibition site that will retrace the history of the French print press. The center is open to the public, you will make beautiful discoveries and may become a member of the association. An initiative that wins to be known!
