SAINT-MARTIN'S ABBEY
The village of Massay has a Cluniac abbey, founded in the 8th century and secularised in the 18th century. The abbey church then became a parish church. Burned down several times, notably during the Hundred Years' War and ravaged by the Protestants, the abbey was very much altered in the 14th and 16th centuries (framework). Its stained glass windows date from the 16th and 19th centuries (beautiful work by master glassmaker Gaspard Gsell). A very beautiful 12th century chapel has beautiful capitals. The chapter house with its beautiful arcades and the monks' dormitory line the road to Reuilly (where the cloister, which has now disappeared, was located). The town hall is located in the chambermaker's dwelling.
