PORCELAIN POLE
The Pôle de la Porcelaine brings back to life the great hours of porcelain production in Berry from the beginning of the century to the present day.
The Pôle de la Porcelaine brings to life the great hours of porcelain production in Berry from the early 19th century to the present day: two centuries of porcelain on display in a resolutely contemporary architectural space, open to nature and the surrounding gardens, in the shadow of the Charles VII tower. Six hundred pieces, mainly made between 1854 and 1920 by "la Spéciale", make up the permanent collections on display to the public (two thousand are in reserve). The tour takes you through showcases filled with curiosities and unusual objects such as the lion's head soup tureen or the side bar cup. A number of interactive terminals provide an entertaining way to discover porcelain. This museum has succeeded in bringing together a highly original scenography and museography. A play area is reserved for children, and older visitors can take part in workshops. Before you leave, take a look around the store, where egg cups, mugs and mazagrans hand-decorated on Berry porcelain are on display.
