SEWING CASTLE
This is a rare example of the architecture of late Middle Ages. In the heart of the village, in a century-old park, the imposing xve century dungeon dominates the Germigny Valley. Culminating at 38 meters tall, he watches on the small village nestled at his feet. This military seigneurial house, built around 1460 by Philippe and Jean de Villaines, kept its remarkable frame in the form of a ship's nef and monumental chimneys of rigorous purity. It would have been «miraculously spared» by the transformations of the Renaissance, and - according to legend - inhabited a few days by King Henry IV. This historic monument - classified on October 30, 1917 thanks to Raymond Poincaré just before his request for demolition! -has been built according to plans commonly used in Bourbonnais. The dungeon and the castle park offer the visitor, at the pace of an exciting guided tour by the owner of the places or a member of his family. Another cherished wonder of the Haut-Berry!
