LE CANAL LATÉRAL DE LA LOIRE
Go there and contact
Parallel to the Loire and punctuated with 38 locks, the lateral canal goes from Briare to Digoin, via Léré, Saint-Satur and Ménétréol-sous-Sancerre. Created in 1832, it travels from the south to the north the entire communal territory of Ménétréol. In the nineteenth century, the village developed along this river waterway. Today, Ménétréol is an essential stopover of the «Loire by Bike» and cruises on the canal. The boat can be moored at the water stop of the commune. Walking along the banks of the banks is peaceful and allows you to discover the countryside and the different villages.
