CHÂTEAU LA GRAND'COUR
Amazing this medieval castle dating back to the late thirteenth century! Its circular wall at 17 pans is not less than 40 meters in diameter, and is surrounded by water with a good width, at least 10 meters. The only possible entry is through a bridge. This shell fortress was certainly a strategic place during the Hundred Years War by its military architecture and positioning on a line of strong houses separating the Berry and Nivernais. It is a vivid illustration of what a castle of this kind is very impressive, and one can imagine what, for eight centuries, the stones lived and what they now transmit to us. Since June 2009, it is listed in the Supplementary Inventory of Historic Monuments.
