THE SAINT-VIC MUSEUM
The museum is located in the Hotel Saint-Vic built at the end of the th century to be the town house of the abbots of Noirlac. With its beautiful octagonal staircase turret, the building is now composed of temporary and permanent exhibition rooms. They have seen the activity of men in the region since prehistoric times. The permanent collections are all linked to Saint-Amandois and are presented in chronological order. The extraordinary collection of rare pieces highlights the rich past of Berry: the head of children discovered in Drevant refers to the Gallo-Roman site only a few kilometres from Saint-Amand-Montrond. The bust of the Great Condé, a remarkable piece, encourages the visitor to deepen his knowledge by visiting the fortress of Montrond. Louis Touzet's hooves tree is a masterpiece of popular art. This museum promises a beautiful walk through the ages and the arts. In addition to permanent collections, temporary exhibitions are frequently held in the rooms reserved for them. The museum garden is accessible to the public.
