THE CASTLE
The Château de Saint-Florent has been a witness to history since the 12th century, and was transformed into the Town Hall in the 20th century.
At the gateway to the kingdom of France, facing the English, the Château de Saint-Florent dates back to the 12th century. Devastated during the Wars of Religion, it was sold in 1625 to Henri II de Condé, then reverted to his son, the Grand Condé, during the Fronde. Owned by the Condé family until 1727, it then passed to various owners. In the 20th century, Monsieur Brunet transformed it into a neo-Louis XIII château. The 15th-century keep is a listed historic monument. Purchased in 1936, it now houses the Town Hall and welcomes visitors.
