SAINT-GUINEFORT ABBEY-CHURCH
Classified as a historic monument in 1840 - it deserves it well - this abbey, formerly abbey attached to the order of Saint Augustin, was founded in the Ve century. An architectural element often devastated and looted - particularly by the English during the famous Hundred Years War - like many of them in that region, it was ultimately not prevented from continuing, despite significant difficulties. This will not happen until the eighteenth century. Now also called St. Peter's Church, it remains a somewhat diverse memory from the architectural point of view and witness to a history of France in the face of incessant war rivalries. Its imposing dimensions suggest a period where Gothic triumphs prevailed, as did the cathedral of Bourges. The phenomenon of harness and lightness involved, it characterizes Saint-Satur and ennobles the passer-by who encounters her as an endless interrogation…
