A 12-meter-diameter, 30-meter-high keep in Sancerre.
A vestige of the château of the Counts of Sancerre, this tower, located in the château grounds (single admission ticket: grounds+château+tower), is the only one of the six towers to have been spared when the fortress was destroyed in 1621. The keep measures 12 m in diameter and 30 m in height. Round on the outside and hexagonal on the inside, you have to climb 195 steps to discover a unique view over the roofs of the old town and the hills of the Sancerrois region. The 360° panorama, between the meandering Loire and the rolling hillsides, is breathtaking!
