Travel Guide Majorca
Located 200 km off the Iberian Peninsula in the Balearic archipelago in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, the island of Mallorca is worth much more than the clichés of a concrete coastline and uncontrolled tourism that have stuck to its skin since some fifteen million tourists disembark each year in Palma, its largest city.Spain's largest island can also be visited and enjoyed away from the massive urbanization, well accompanied by its Majorca tourist guide. Mallorca offers the greatest variety of landscapes in the Balearic Islands, between hidden coves bathed in crystal clear water and fine sandy beaches lined with pine trees, the peaks of the Serra de Tramuntana, the cliffs of Cape Formentor, the orange tree plains of Soller, the caves of the Dragon in Porto Cristo... History lovers will discover remarkable monuments such as the ancient vestiges of Pollentia in Alcúdia, or the rich architectural heritage of Palma, whose Gothic cathedral and the old merchant's exchange built in the 15th century are the jewels in the crown. Very touristy on the edges, Mallorca finds more authenticity inland in the medieval villages and full of charm of Valldemossa, Fornalutx, Artà, Felanitx or Sineu. There are many opportunities to get off the beaten track in Mallorca!

When to go to Majorca?
The best time to visit Mallorca and the Balearic Islands is in June or September, when the summer crowds are absent and the climate is particularly pleasant. From July 15 to the end of August, prices are tripled everywhere (hotels, restaurants), but the entertainment is at its peak with numerous village festivals and all kinds of activities. It is also the ideal destination for aquatic activities: the Mediterranean Sea will be your playground. Between October and March, most hotels and restaurants in the resorts are closed. Only the big cities like Palma and Eivissa continue to live at a normal pace.
Weather at the moment
The Balearic climate, Mediterranean type, seems delightfully mild in winter, since the average temperature does not fall below 12 ° C. Spring, like the months of September and October, is very variable, but it is at this time that we enjoy the most beautiful weeks of the year, with perfect sunshine and ideal temperatures. Obviously, during the summer, the weather is hot and beautiful, sometimes too hot in the Pityuses. This climate benefits the night activity of the island very animated with its numerous bars and discos.
Palma
Majorca is part of Spain and is therefore in the euro zone. With the euro, comparisons are easy... They are not always to the advantage of the trade of the island. The Balearic Islands remain quite expensive. Many stores are closed out of season. There are strong disparities in prices for hotels as well as for restaurants, shopping or leisure activities depending on the place.
Ibiza, Formentera, Menorca and Mallorca form the Balearic Islands. European Union citizens only need to present a valid ID. No visa is required for Canadian nationals if their stay is less than three months. Don't forget your driver's license for car and motorcycle rentals. Don't forget to bring a map of the city and your travel guide, which is always full of good addresses.
In the Balearics, and therefore in Spain, you are in the European Union, so the health risks are no greater than in our country. There is no malaria in Spain. However, it is always better to have enough protection against mosquito and other insect bites, if only to avoid sleep disturbances and other itching. Tap water is drinkable everywhere on the Spanish islands.
