Cross the famous Harbour Bridge and head north. On the way to Byron Bay, you can make a quick stop at Newcastle, Port Macquarie or Coffs Harbour.

Day 4

Heading for Queensland

You're entering Queensland. Take a detour inland to visit Lamington and Springbrook National Parks.

Endless beach, surfer's paradise

Try your hand at taming the Australian wave and take a surfing lesson. Head for the Gold Coast, where you'll discover 40 kilometers of beaches and resorts, including Surfers Paradise, before reaching Brisbane for the night.

Head south to Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park and watch the sun set over Australia's most famous monolith: Uluru (Ayers Rock).
