How to get there - Québec
Old Quebec, Plains of Abraham and Citadel
Steps: Québec
In Old Quebec, stroll along the Dufferin Terrace before entering the doors of the Château Frontenac, stroll the narrow streets within the city and take a look at the cathedral and the basilica. Then, choose between the Musée de l'Amérique francophone (interesting exhibition on French-speaking communities in North America) or the monasteries(Augustines or Ursulines).
Then head to the Plains of Abraham. The city's green lung! Just take the Promenade des Gouverneurs from Dufferin Terrace to get there. In addition to the many events held there (Quebec City Summer Festival, National Holiday celebrations, Quebec Winter Carnival, etc.), a host of activities can be enjoyed on site, in summer and winter. It is also a good place to stroll while admiring the view of the river and the south shore.
Located on the eastern flank of the fortifications on the plains, the Citadel of Québec is a national historic site, also known as the "Gibraltar of America. Since 1920, the citadel has been occupied by troops of the Royal 22e Régiment. During the summer season, military ceremonies are held there every day.

From Petit Champlain to Vieux Port
Steps: Québec
Le Petit Champlain is a lovely neighbourhood located below Château Frontenac, it is accessible by the funicular of Terrasse Dufferin or the staircase of Casse-Cou. It is full of Quebec craft shops, gourmet addresses and good restaurants. Take the opportunity to visit Musée de la Place-Royale, which will bring you back to the 400 years of the site. Musée de la Civilization annually offers superb exhibitions and workshops on current, historical and sometimes unusual subjects. You should absolutely see the permanent exhibition "Le Temps des Québécois", which describes the great and the little history of Quebec in a refreshed and different vision, from New France until today. A must-see! Continue your walk to Vieux-Port and the Bassin Louise, just to admire the pretty sailing boats. Know that the image Mill was presented from 2008 to 2013 on the silos of the Bunge. Gourmands will not fail to stop at the Marché du Vieux-Port to discover the specialties of the region. Booming area, the Saint-Roch neighbourhood allows you to take the pulse of Quebec life and avoid the tourist mass. The shops and bistros mainly focus on Saint-Joseph Street and Charest Boulevard. To end your visit, a stop at the microbrewery La Barberie is essential, especially in summer to enjoy its beautiful green terrace. In the evening, we recommend a night out at Cercle which is a wine bar, a restaurant, an art gallery and a performance hall.

In the trench of Saint-Laurent
Steps: Île D'Orléans
To start off your day at sea, take a tasty brunch at the Café du Monde, in the cruise terminal with a view of the river! Visiting Quebec without a river trip would be a sin! Several companies offer cruises that will take you to the bridges of Quebec, Île d'Orléans and the wonderful Montmorency Fall. The excursion offered by AML on Louis Jolliet is probably the most interesting and you will be accompanied by a costumed guide, Louis Jolliet himself, who will tell you the history of the Old Capital, the river and the surrounding areas. If you want to escape, we recommend that you take the ferry to the south shore on the same day in order to discover Vieux-Lévis.

Wendake and local culture
Steps: Wendake
The visit of the Wendake village (Huron-Wendat nation) consists of several elements and at least a whole day long should be dedicated to it. The list of the sites to visit is impressive and will immerse you in the heart of local culture. Please refer to the "Escapades autour de Québec" section for a complete list of attractions.
Fall of Montmorency and Ile d'Orléans
Steps: Île D'Orléans
The unmissable Parc de la Chute-Montmorency is less than 15 km east of the capital. Less wide than the Niagara Falls, it is all the same 30 metres taller. We advise you to arrive by the boulevard Sainte-Anne, at the bottom of the fall. Thus, you can take the cable car taking you to the summit and enjoy the walking paths and the bridge overlooking the waterfall. On the other side, you can go down an impressive staircase leading you to the base of the fall. Note to the brave: it is possible to get near the fall but, due to the wind created by the latter, a shower is inevitable! The bridge for "île magique", Île d'Orleans is in front of the fall. It is advisable to go around but plan a few hours, because this island occupies an area of 192 km². It is the kingdom of local products and the perfect place to "taste" Quebec. We have put some good gourmet addresses in the section of the escapades. Also, note that an interpretation space is dedicated to the late songwriter Félix Leclerc. To see!

Beaupré and its basilica
Steps: Sainte-Anne-De-Beaupré
It's impossible to miss it, because it can be seen from afar, even very far. The basilica of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré Sanctuary, dedicated to the patron saint of Quebec, is one of the most visited places of worship and the oldest pilgrimage site in the province. It is worth visiting, if only to admire its impressive neo-Gothic-style architecture. Cyclorama de Jérusalem is nearby, a circular building where the largest panorama of the holy city is reproduced on canvas. Because it is good to stretch your legs and inhale a large bowl of fresh air, Beaupré Is a choice outdoor destination. The Mont-Sainte-Anne resort offers a variety of activities in all seasons, ranging from mountain biking to alpine skiing, via Nordic spa relaxation. There is also the Sainte-Anne canyon, a unique natural site, where the river of the same name falls down 74 metres and rushes into a narrow rocky fault. The suspended bridges allow you to admire its beauty and its extent. It is also possible to practice via ferrata and the zip line within the site.
