Day 1: Arrival in Boston

Day 2: FAM and Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum

Day 5: Philadelphia, the Art Museum and the Barnes Foundation

In an hour by train from New York, you will easily reach the centre of Philadelphia. Start first by the Philadelphia Museum of Art, which towers on the Benjamin Parkway at about 10 minutes by bus from the city centre or a 20-minute walk. We could spend many days there, so plan at least two afternoons to see everything. The Barnes Foundation in Merion (approximately 45 minutes by train from the centre of Philadelphia), welcomes thousands of visitors from all over the country and abroad each year. It is one of the world's most important collections, renowned for its many impressionist, post-Impressionist, and exceptional works of Cézanne, Matisse, Picasso, Modigliani and Renoir. The collection of African sculptures is also superb. Note that you must reserve in advance. The museum might move in the downtown in the years to come.
Day 6: Direction Washington D.C.

Leave Philadelphia early in the morning to be in Washington in the morning (1h40 by train), where the 18 museums of the Smithonian Institution await you! Note that they are free. Native American art, African art, Asian art, Air and Space museum, portrait galleries..
They are almost all on the National Mall, between the Capitol and the Washington Monument
Day 7: Conclusion of the stay with the Phillips Collection

In the Phillips Collection (this is paid), renovated a few years ago. The paintings (some unforgettable paintings by Degas, Matisse, Hopper, Kandinsky...) are located in the former mansion of the collector Duncan Phillips.
