Transfer by plane to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

This morning's flight by light aircraft to the Kihihi airstrip takes just over an hour. Transfer through local villages and along mountain roads to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, a World Heritage Site (+- 90 minutes drive). Considered Uganda's most diverse forest, Bwindi is one of East Africa's richest ecosystems and home to over 120 mammals, 345 bird species, 200 butterfly species and 160 tree species. The park is home to around half the world's population of the endangered mountain gorilla, making it an extremely valuable conservation site.

Coming face to face with mountain gorillas is a rare and exhilarating experience that's hard to put into words. Experienced guides and trackers will accompany your group on an early morning trek through dense rainforest on steep mountain slopes.
Please note that gorilla trekking can be exhausting, with walks ranging from 45 minutes to eight hours, at high altitudes and in often hot conditions. We recommend hiring a local porter to help you on your trek. Although mountain gorillas are wild animals and sightings are not guaranteed, the success rate is over 95%. Once you've located your gorilla family, spend an hour quietly observing them. Time flies; make sure you get the most out of this experience, and not just through the lens of your camera .Return to your lodge for a complimentary massage after your hike, or explore the surrounding community.

Depart Bwindi Impenetrable National Park this morning and drive to Ishasha, in the southern part of Queen Elizabeth National Park (2-3 hours drive), with a brief stop en route at a community project near the village of Ishasha.Weather permitting, we'll take a late afternoon game drive in the Ishasha area, in search of huge herds of buffalo, elephant, Ugandan kob and, of course, the famous climbing lion typically found in the region.

Full-day safari in the Ishasha area, Queen Elizabeth National Park

Early this morning, as the African sun rises over the wilderness, you'll venture out in your customized safari vehicle for a game drive in search of big cats, elephants, buffalo and many species of antelope.
You'll spend the rest of the morning in search of wildlife rich in species such as warthog, waterbuck, bushbuck, leopard, Ugandan kob, elephants, countless bird species and even the rare giant forest pig. The Ishasha sector of the park is famous for its tree-climbing lions, sometimes found lying in the branches of indigenous fig trees. You'll also have a safari and Sundowner in the late afternoon, as the sun sets over the savannahs.
Sundowner drinks and snacks are a fantastic way to end the day! At the end of your afternoon safari, you'll be taken to a predetermined spot inside the national park, where you'll find a small buffet with freshly prepared snacks and iced drinks. Comfortable chairs are laid out, overlooking the magnificent plains of the African savannah. Sundowners take place in a place where you can both admire the magnificent African sunset and enjoy a quiet spot to observe the flora and fauna. Sundowners last as long as you like, so there's no pressure to get back to camp before you've seen the sun set completely.

Morning safari and relaxation in Queen Elizabeth National Park

To the north, you'll head for the "Mweya" sector of the park, rich in flora and fauna. Here, visitors will find a large number of Euphorbia, or "candelabra" trees, unique and peculiar to Uganda. The many crater lakes and nearby mountain ranges provide a magnificent backdrop for your trip. You'll head to your reserved lodge for check-in, lunch and the rest of the day at leisure.

Safari and boat cruise - Queen Elizabeth National Park

After an early breakfast, you'll set off on a game drive and return to your lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, you'll take a boat cruise along the Kazinga Canal, a 32-kilometer-long natural channel linking Lake Edward and Lake George. Kazinga's shores are dotted with herds of lazy buffalo, groups of carefree wallowing hippos and countless species of birds. Pass by local fishing villages and soak up the tranquility of this beautiful African day.
You may encounter herds of elephant, buffalo and antelope, families of warthogs, large groups of hippos and crocodiles lounging on the shore. The shores of Kazinga are a haven for many birds, many of them migratory species heading south to warmer climates. The cruise also offers spectacular views of the magnificent Mweya Peninsula and life in the local fishing villages along the shores.

Morning game drive and transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

Morning safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park, followed by a 3 to 4-hour drive to the Kibale Forest, which features an interesting mix of lowland rainforest, montane forest and tropical mixed deciduous forest. In addition to the forest, you'll also notice areas of grassland and swamp. The forest is rich in wildlife and is best known for its primate population. These include the red-tailed monkey, the diademed monkey, the olive baboon, the chimpanzee and the black-and-white colobus. Birdlife is also abundant, with almost 300 species recorded. The forest is also home to 144 species of butterfly and a varied population of moths and other insects

Chimpanzee trekking in the Bigodi community
Steps: Kibale Forest National Park
Chimpanzee trekking in the Kibale forest usually takes place in the morning. The forest is full of noise! Chimpanzees can be very active, moving quickly through the forest canopy... or, if you're lucky, you may find them resting or eating close to the forest floor. It's an exhilarating walk, in a magnificent landscape. As with gorilla tracking, sightings are not guaranteed, although chimpanzees are used to humans. This afternoon, you can visit the Bigodi swamp and community village.

After an early breakfast, you'll head back to Kasese airstrip for your connecting flight to Entebbe, arriving in the late afternoon. (If you're leaving Entebbe this evening, don't book a flight before 7.00 p.m.).
