Detail of the stay : MOKORO DAY TRIP - 1 day

Day 1

A mokoro day trip usually starts in the morning and ends in the late afternoon. Your safari guide will pick you up from your accommodation at 8 a.m. and accompany you to an open Toyota Land Cruiser 4x4 safari vehicle for an hour's drive to the mokoro station, where the concession guides will be waiting to transport you to a small paradise in the wilderness. Once aboard the mokoro, you'll glide silently along the narrow channels. The smallest creatures can be seen in colorful clarity, and you can get up close and personal with animals drinking at the water's edge. Be on the lookout for frogs clinging to the reeds or elephants at the water's edge. You may even spot the sitatunga, a hard-to-see aquatic antelope, resting in reed beds and flat areas, as well as hippos, crocodiles, African fish eagles, malachite kingfishers and the less common. Each mokoro carries a maximum of three people: two guests and a poler/guide who steers the mokoro with a pole, avoiding papyrus and reeds, using a "nkashi". The Okavango Delta is ideal for hiking, so you'll experience a guided bush walk on one of the islands, with open plains where animals can be easily spotted. We return to Maun in the late afternoon.
