Practical information : Move & Laze around Cameroon
Budget & Tips
If you're staying in the city, you'll quickly find yourself looking for pedestrian areas and green spaces in which to stroll. In fact, urban facilities are often not really conducive to pedestrian traffic, as sidewalks are either obstructed or too damaged to be walked on peacefully. That's why larger parks are so popular with families, who go there for walks or exercise.
What's very local
In Cameroon, the cool of the early morning is the perfect time for sporting activities. As early as 6 a.m., sportsmen and women are out running and... dancing! That's right, men and women, young and old, all get into the groove for a musical wake-up call! The liveliest rhythms thunder through the speakers, and bodies let loose in African-style Zumba classes. A true moment of freedom!
Your documents please
As police checks are very frequent when leaving the city, we strongly recommend that you bring your passport, residence permit or an authenticated copy of these documents with you for any out-of-town excursions.
Main events
On the occasion of certain national celebrations (Youth Day in February, Labor Day in May, Tabaski in June...), public holidays are announced by the government, often resulting in long weekends during which families travel to Kribi, Cameroon's No. 1 seaside resort. During these weekends, the town gets into full swing, and parties are organized along the seafront, in the busiest hotels and restaurants. Some ephemeral bars organize events especially for these occasions.
