Practical information : Take a break Argentina
Timetable
Whether it's gourmet tea, homemade beer or a glass of wine, there's no time like the present to take a break and enjoy the delights of Argentinean beverages! Cafés and tea rooms are usually open from morning until late afternoon. During the high season, the doors are open every day of the week and sometimes even on Sundays, but beware, the opening hours become more random between April and September. The bars all have the same opening hours: for example, cafés that are converted into bars in the evening or establishments that open their doors in the late afternoon. However, especially in Buenos Aires, they are open until late at night, often until 3 or 4 am! In more remote areas, such as Patagonia, the bars are open every day in high season but the pace usually slows down in the low season, especially at the beginning of the week.
Budget & Tips
Drink prices are significantly lower than those on the European market. For alcoholic beverages, take advantage of happy hours, when you can buy two drinks for the price of one, or benefit from discounts of up to 50% off the price of a glass. In general, expect to pay AR$6,000 per pint in Argentina. Some bars also offer interesting and inexpensive craft beer tastings.
Age restrictions
In Argentina, the sale and consumption of alcohol is not permitted under the age of 18. Some establishments may ask you for your identity card or passport in order to consume alcohol.
What's very local
In Buenos Aires, people go out to the boliches to admire the tango dancers. When you're with a group of friends, it's also customary to soothe the stomach by sharing large tablas or tablitas stuffed with cold cuts, cheeses, olives, bread, grilled calamari and other regional delicacies.
