Practical information : Eating out Seychelles
Timetable
Beware, in general in the Seychelles we live with the sun. Breakfast is served between 7am and 9.30am. For meals, restaurants are open every day, generally from 12:30 to 2pm for the last order and from 6:30 to 9:30pm for the last order too. Takeaways are open from lunch to dinner without interruption, but close at 7 or 8 pm.
Budget & Tips
For lunch on the go, take-away restaurants offer take-away trays. While you'll find a few burgers, it's mostly rice and freshly prepared fish that are on the menu. Good food, lots of it, at a low price. Expect to pay between SR60 and SR90 (€4 and €6) for a tray. A great way to have lunch on the beach at a lower price, and leave yourself more free rein for dinner.
What costs extra
If the bill can go up quickly, no unpleasant surprises when it comes time to pay for the meal. Prices are quoted inclusive of all taxes at virtually all shops and restaurants (with rare exceptions).
The local way
Go to the Victoria market to buy some excellent fruit, or to Anse Royale when you return from fishing, to find some good fish for self-catering. In Beau Vallon, the small pedestrian road that runs along the beach between the Savoy and the Boat House is home to food-trucks and small stalls selling local specialities. And, all the time, you can grab your take-away tray or cook in one of the many self-catering restaurants in the area.
Kids
Children are always welcome! Baby chairs and children's menus are de rigueur in all restaurants. Even the Creole buffets offer prices for kids. Often, coloring pages are provided to keep the toddlers busy while enjoying a curry or a lobster.
Smokers
As in France, the restaurants are non-smoking, except on the terrace, of course.
