LE VIN DE DOMME
Historic wine estate on the outskirts of Domme: open for visits and free tasting every afternoon.
The wine of Domme was a high quality production under the Ancien Régime, and was shipped to Bordeaux via the Dordogne on "gabarres", these flat-bottomed boats. The appellation "vin de Domme" designated all the wines produced in and around Domme, and more widely in the Sarladais. There were vines everywhere! At the end of the 19th century, phylloxera eradicated this production. The wine cellar of Domme, which is located in Florimont-Gaumier, has re-planted several rows of vines, and invites visitors to visit (and taste!) them free of charge every day.
