THE CASTLE OF RASTIGNAC
The castle of Rastignac in La Bachellerie, a private property whose park offers a magnificent view of the surrounding valley
The Château de Rastignac in La Bachellerie, a historical monument, bears a striking resemblance to the White House in Washington. It's private property. One of its co-owners, Ronald Kerkhoven, Doctor of Art History and Anthropology, opens his apartments exceptionally on the occasion of Heritage Days. Work on the construction of this neoclassical castle, from the Louis XVI period, with a rotunda with colonnades inspired by the Roman period, began in 1811 and was completed in 1817. Its park offers a magnificent view of the surrounding valley. Since 2018, the artist designer Michèle Jarry des Loges, creator of art jewellery in natural stones, mixtures of fine stones and metals, and who has worked for haute couture, has installed in the orangery room, her workshop with showroom which she opens for private sales.
