Dormant for 400 years, the castrum of Commarque was covered by abundant vegetation. It was saved in the3rd millennium by a direct descendant of the eponymous family! The site, which rests on a 20,000-year-old cave (closed to the public), has gradually been cleared, revealing troglodytic shelters, a 12th-century keep, a dwelling, a chapel, an entire defense system and knights' tower-houses. A new, fun and illustrated tour begins in July 2024, with a host of events throughout the summer.

Closed from November 4 to April 1. Open from April to early November, see website for seasonal opening times. High season: open daily from 9:30 am to 7:30 pm. Free for children under 5. Adults: €9.80 (students €8). Children (6 to 17 years): €6.50. Group (20 people): €8.80. Last admission 1h15 before closing time. Length of visit: guided 1h, self-guided unlimited. Paper booklet: €1.50. Cheques not accepted. Vacation vouchers. The path and exterior of the ruins are accessible. Guided tour. Catering (food truck during spring and summer vacations and at night). Gift store. Entertainment. Dogs allowed on leash.
