TRAP TOWER
23-metre-high tower with a 7-metre diameter, part of the surviving walls of the castle ruins.
The Piégut heights regained their strategic importance in the early Middle Ages. On one of them, a wooden watchtower (9th century) in the service of the Viscount of Limoges, then a fortified castle with 7 towers and a keep, the possible heir to some oppidum (Gallo-Roman stronghold). Several walls are still standing, as are the castle keep and the Tour de Piégut (23 m high and 7 m in diameter). The latter, built on a 13th-century motte castrale, was taken by the English in 1336 and 1426, and has been listed as a Monument Historique since 1992.
