BOHEMIAN HOUSE
House with a façade that harmoniously blends the medieval and Renaissance styles
The house of La Boétie (17th century), located opposite the cathedral, has a façade that harmoniously blends medieval and Renaissance styles. Built in 1525 by Antoine de la Boétie, it was the birthplace of Etienne de la Boétie (1530-1563), a friend of Michel de Montaigne to whom he bequeathed his entire library. On the ground floor there used to be a shop. Above, the two floors of Italian Renaissance style are pierced with large mullioned windows, framed by pilasters with medallions and rhombuses.
