ATHOS AGORA
Founded in June 1978, the Monastère de la Transfiguration located on the heights of Terrasson-Lavilledieu, welcomes Orthodox nuns, a congregation dependent on the Simonos-Petra Monastery of the Holy Mountain of Athos in Greece. The sisters lead an existence punctuated by Orthodox liturgical services, personal prayer and work, such as the construction and restoration of buildings, the processing of nuts, the breeding of selected sheep. They are accompanied by Father Elie, founder, chaplain and spiritual father of the community. Since 2014, the monastic congregation has been building, with the help of companies, a new catholicon dedicated to the Transfiguration of the Savior, a church that can accommodate up to 250 faithful. Along RD 6089, the congregation opened a shop, decorated with a monumental fresco, where it sells its own products, walnuts processed into cream and kernels, jams of pears, apples, figs from the fruits of their orchards, and spun and processed wool from their sheep flock and wools made by them. Other craft products belong to the Monastic network: cheeses, alcohols, cakes, herbal teas, coffees, but also hygiene products, etc. Religious objects are not forgotten and icon lovers will find beautiful things.
