In 1789, the Dubourdieu pottery made between 4 000 to 5 000 pieces renowned for the beauty of their enamel. In the 19th century, the red of Thiviers was particularly well-known. In 1907, this pottery disappeared but the Desmarthon factory created in 1853 continued its productions until around 1929 as the jars that contained the balm of Veuve Farnier created in 1764 that could supposedly cure all or almost all aches.
