ABBAYE DE BOSCHAUD
Cistercian abbey, combining the architectural principles of the order with a Périgord style, classified as a historical monument in Villars.
Boschaud Abbey, founded in 1154, was one of four Cistercian abbeys in Périgord. It combines the architectural principles of the order with a Périgord style, with a single nave vaulted by a row of domes on pendentives. The last abbot was Dom Pérignon in 1791. The church has endured the vicissitudes of history: revolts, looting, the Hundred Years' War and the French Revolution. Now a listed historic monument, it is brought back to life thanks to an association, Les Amis de Boschaud, and the community of communes, which opens it up to regular programming and shows.
