Abandoned and looted in the 19th century, it was acquired by the French government in 1939, and underwent a lengthy restoration program managed by Monuments nationaux. Built by a relative of François I, it is adorned with Florentine-style sculptures of salamanders, royal faces and musicians. The interior features monumental fireplaces and a splendid reception room (labors of Hercules). The2nd floor features a remarkable timber frame. It is fully furnished and features Aubusson tapestries.
