This Benedictine abbey was created in 1951 to accommodate the monastic community of Madiran, too cramped in the priory. Although the building has no historical architecture, its stone aesthetics and its modernity make it a superb building with a church and a green setting conducive to peace. The monks pray, celebrate religious services and the Eucharist, read the Bible and work. For 40 years, they have specialized in the artisanal production of fruit jellies, seeking to bring out the authentic taste of the fruits used and even of the flowers with specialties made with jasmine and lavender! A production that includes only natural products, without colorants or preservatives. A flagship creation has contributed to the reputation of these delicacies: the Pavé de l'Abbaye. These little fruit jelly cubes delicately coated with a thin layer of dark chocolate are excellent, and many other products from the monastery's crafts are on sale in the shop. Overnight stays are possible, in the spirit of the community's association, i.e. for the purpose of a spiritual stay with a dimension of silence and faith. Guests can stay from one day to a maximum of one week. They are invited to share the monks' liturgy and can ask for the help of a brother. The monastery also organizes retreats, sessions, recollections, and Bible reading courses during the year.
